Metsä Fibre Rauma Sawmill – the world's most advanced and modern sawmill

The Valvomo part was implemented Roima Intelligence Oy

The Rauma sawmill is the world’s most modern sawmill and the largest sawmill investment in Finland’s history, benefiting the entire sawmill industry. The investment is valued at about 260 million euros. Sawmill technology innovations, such as machine vision, adaptive artificial intelligence, and real-time integrated information systems that control various saw line functions, have set even better standards for the uniform quality of sawn timber and cost-effective production.

In addition to technology and speed, the pioneering nature of the Rauma sawmill is represented by a single central control room operation model. Lumber moves through the processing line without manual stages. The desired high-quality sawn timber is available to each customer exactly when needed.

Digital Sawmill – with complete video walls for the management

Centralized control solution and data-driven production for the modern new sawmill.

Klinkmann Solution – specification work for an optimal concept is based on team working

Klinkmann supported and participated the specification work for an optimal concept: a  platform based on the AVEVA System Platform OMI technology, with Roima’s application implementation. This enables centralized control of the sawmill and efficient data collection, as well as easy connectivity of various automation and IT systems. The Aveva Historian database provides real-time data collection for troubleshooting and reporting.

The System Platform allows reliable control, monitoring, and data collection of the plant process

With the AVEVA standard solution, modern views of the process and centralized data collection are achieved. The system is also easy to develop in the future in a changing operating environment.
